Normally, we ask prospective members to attend a few of our meetings and help at one or two events, prior to joining. During this time, they and their partners are welcome to join our social events. In this way, they and their partners will get to know us and our partners socially, find out more about the work of Lions and the kind of activities we get involved in.

Having got to know us at work and at play, a prospective member will then be able to decide whether they feel they could join us and help in our activities. At the same time, we will have got to know the prospective member and have formed a view of whether we feel we would like to have them on board!

It’s a two way deal – we have to like you and you have to like us.

There is no complicated or frightening initiation ceremony, we simply explain the objects and ethics of our International Association and ask if you can accept them.

What will it cost?

Apart from a small membership fee to cover our administration, District, Multiple District and International Dues, nothing, apart from as much time as you feel able to give us in support of our projects. You do not have to be out of pocket, as all legitimate expenses incurred on behalf of Lions can be refunded. In return, we hope you will derive a lot of satisfaction from serving your community and a great deal of comradeship from your fellow Lions. The benefit to us is that there is one more person to do some of the work! The membership fee works out at less than the cost of a pint of beer for each week of the year.
